NatWest has confirmed the resolution of an issue concerning its cash deposit machines, following reports from some customers regarding missing funds in their accounts.

Several individuals took to social media on Thursday to express concerns that cash they had recently deposited was not reflecting in their account balances.

On Friday, NatWest issued a statement declaring that the problem had been rectified and that no customers would incur financial losses as a result of this issue.

Some customers had reported going into overdraft due to the problem and were apprehensive about potential fees.

In its official statement, NatWest explained, "Cash payments to a small number of accounts have been delayed. The issue is now resolved, and customer accounts are being updated."

The exact number of affected customers remains unclear.

NatWest initially acknowledged the issue on Thursday morning via X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that there was an "ongoing incident with our cash deposit machines" and that their team was diligently working to address it as a priority.

One customer shared with the BBC that they had traveled to Croatia only to discover that their account was devoid of funds.

Another customer posted on X addressed to NatWest, expressing frustration, "I'm now £900 in my overdraft. I put £1000 in on Tuesday afternoon, and it's gone? Also, we better not be getting overdraft fees because of your system failure." Photo by Doyle of London, Wikimedia commons.
