British Queen celebrates

Prince William has extended his words of encouragement to the Lionesses following their loss in their debut World Cup final against Spain.

Spain secured victory over England with a 1-0 score to claim the FIFA Women's World Cup title at the Stadium Australia on Sunday.

Despite not being able to attend the final, even as the president of the FA, the Prince of Wales took to his and his wife Kate Middleton's official Twitter account to express his appreciation for both teams' exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Commending the Lionesses for their efforts, Prince William conveyed, "You have represented yourselves and this nation with great pride. Your determination and dedication have served as an inspiration to numerous individuals and have paved the way for future generations. Thank you for the memorable football moments."

He also extended his congratulations to Spain for their victory.

While some criticized Prince William for his decision to skip the Women's World Cup Final, branding it "ridiculous," he appeared in a video alongside his daughter Princess Charlotte to offer his well wishes to the Lionesses in the final against Spain. He expressed regret for not being present at the significant match in Australia.

In the final match held in Sydney, Spain triumphed over England, securing their first FIFA Women's World Cup title. Captain Olga Carmona scored the winning goal in the 29th minute, calmly slotting the ball into the right-hand corner following a swift counter-attack.

Spain took the lead with a 1-0 score against England in the 29th minute, with Olga Carmona's powerful strike from the left wing beating England's goalkeeper Mary Earps. Carmona, a left back, has now scored in consecutive World Cup games for Spain. Notably, the Spanish team has recorded the highest number of goals in the tournament, with 18 goals during this World Cup campaign. Photo by MacMoreno, Wikimedia commons.
