Russia launched an intensified attack on 118 Ukrainian towns and villages within a 24-hour period, marking the highest daily attack count this year, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor

Klymenko. The attacks affected 10 of Ukraine's 27 regions, causing casualties and fatalities. Many impacted areas were situated near the eastern and southern front lines.

Avdiivka, a strategically significant town in Donetsk, has been a primary focus for Russian military action, with more than 40 massive shelling attacks recorded in one day. Ukrainian forces managed to repel 20 attacks in the Avdiivka area.

Russia also escalated attacks on Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region and hindered Ukrainian forces' efforts to regain territory around Bakhmut. Incidents occurred away from the front lines, including attacks on a block of flats, shops, and a pharmacy in Nikopol and a disused oil refinery in Kremenchuk. The Ukrainian counteroffensive has faced challenges, causing concerns about Western fatigue with the ongoing conflict.

US President Joe Biden's administration requested a $106 billion package for Ukraine and Israel, emphasizing the importance of support in opposing Russia's actions. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Ukraine was losing the war, despite receiving new weapons from NATO, and mentioned Ukrainian forces attempting to push into Russian-held areas, leading to personnel demoralization and substantial losses. However, these claims remain unverified by the BBC. Photo by Artemco, Wikimedia commons.
