British Queen celebrates

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, aged 64 and hailing from the state of Johor, has been elected as Malaysia's next monarch. This election is a part of Malaysia's unique system, where the nine

royal families in the country take turns to serve as monarchs for a five-year term.

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar is set to commence his role as King of Malaysia on January 31, 2024, succeeding King Abdullah, who hailed from the state of Pahang. Malaysia operates as a constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia, with its kings serving as symbolic heads of state.

The King-elect is known for his involvement in politics and has received military training in the United States. He has been married to Raja Zarith Sofiah since 1982, who is recognized for her advocacy of English language usage in Malaysia.
