British Queen celebrates

A British model and TikToker, Modou Adams, has been sentenced to nearly seven years in a Peruvian prison for attempting to smuggle 2.9kg (6.4lb) of cocaine out of Peru. The 25-year-old was

apprehended at Jorge Chávez International Airport on September 30th, and the drugs were concealed in his suitcase.

The Superior Court of Justice of Callao disclosed that the cocaine, which was intended for the UK, was discovered sealed inside his luggage during a search. Adams admitted to the drug smuggling charge, leading to his six years and eight months prison sentence. Additionally, he was fined.

Peru's Supreme Court stated on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Adams had been imprisoned for coordinating the shipment of approximately 3kg of cocaine to London. The court even shared a photoshopped image of Adams depicted behind bars.

Adams' recent social media posts showed him visiting Machu Picchu, a renowned tourist attraction in Peru located along the Inca Trail. Local media reported statements from anti-drug prosecutor Lincoln Fuentes, suggesting that this might not have been the first instance in which the model attempted to transport drugs out of the country.

A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office stated that they were "supporting a British man who was arrested in Peru" and were "in contact with the local authorities." Photo by Federico, Wikimedia commons.
