British Queen celebrates

Ivan Dimitrov, a gym instructor from Bristol, has written a letter of apology after being caught carving his and his girlfriend's names into the 2,000-year-old Colosseum. Dimitrov claimed that he

"didn't know it was an old monument," revealing his ignorance in the process.

However, officials in Rome have dismissed his apology as "nonsense" and intend to pursue legal action. Dimitrov faces possible fines and imprisonment when the case comes to court. This incident is not the first of its kind, as previous tourists have been fined for vandalizing the historic landmark. Photo by Dudva, Wikimedia commons.
