Shrewsbury's market has once again secured the title of Britain's favorite in a public vote conducted by the National Association of British Market Authorities, marking its second
consecutive win.
Thousands of votes were cast in favor of Shrewsbury Market, with nearby Oswestry Market receiving high commendation in the indoor category. The market hall is jointly managed by Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council.
The news of clinching the top spot came as a surprise to Shropshire Council facilities manager Kate Gittins, who expressed her gratitude to stallholders and customers. Gittins mentioned the absence of any indication of their candidacy, making the win even more unexpected.
"I'm immensely proud, and this award is a recognition of the hard work by all concerned," said Mike Cox, outdoor recreation and leisure manager for Shrewsbury Town Council. The victory solidifies Shrewsbury Market's standing as a preferred destination, reflecting the dedication and efforts of those involved. Photo by myshrewsbury.co.uk.
