British Queen celebrates

Amidst the flurry of festive engagements, the Duchess of Edinburgh recently embraced the holiday spirit by joining Ukrainian refugees in their Christmas celebrations.

Making her way to The Lighthouse in Woking on December 19, the Duchess graced a special Christmas party where she mingled with around 200 Ukrainian refugees. Delving into the jovial atmosphere, Her Royal Highness donned an apron, delved into serving lunch, and took the opportunity to connect with the attendees, engaging in conversations and getting to know them better.

In a delightful display of involvement, the Duchess also lent her hand to face-painting, crafting reindeer antlers for a young guest. Furthermore, she dedicated time to assemble children's care packages, which are intended to be distributed to those in need during the holidays.

The Lighthouse, a volunteer-led charity in Woking, stands committed to supporting individuals in need through diverse community projects in the Woking and Barnsbury areas. This season, they're gearing up to provide over 4,000 food hampers to local families in need.

Earlier in 2023, the Duchess assumed the role of patron at The Lighthouse and has been actively engaged in the organization's initiatives. Her involvement extends to previous volunteer work at the Jigsaw baby bank and Woking Food Bank.

Additionally, on December 20, both the Duke and Duchess were spotted arriving at Windsor Castle for the Royal Family's extended Christmas lunch, marking yet another engagement in their packed holiday schedule. Photo by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Wikimedia commons.
