In a recent incident, a police officer in Leicestershire sustained severe injuries following an attack by a dog, believed to be of the XL bully breed.

The incident occurred when two officers from Leicestershire Police visited an address in Ibstock at 16:40 BST on Thursday. They were at the location in pursuit of an individual sought by law enforcement. During their visit, the dog attacked, biting one of the officers on his upper leg.

The injured officer was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment. His condition is being closely monitored, and he is undergoing necessary procedures to address the injuries sustained during the dog attack. Fortunately, the other officer involved in the incident suffered only a minor cut to his finger.

In response to the incident, the police seized the dog responsible for the attack from the property. The dog has been placed in secure kennels as part of ongoing investigations into the incident. At this stage, it is believed that the dog in question is of the XL bully breed.

The authorities have also taken another dog from the property, described as a pit bull-type breed, which is now also being kept in kennels. As inquiries continue, no arrests have been made thus far.

The incident took place at an address in Lewis Close, Ibstock, situated near Coalville, while officers were executing their search for the wanted individual. Leicestershire Police is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the dog attack. Photo by Matt Preston, Wikimedia commons.
