Amid the fury of Storm Babet, a North Sea drilling platform, the Stena Spey, has encountered a significant challenge as it lost four of its eight anchors. The severe weather conditions were

responsible for this detachment, according to Stena Drilling.

The drilling platform, situated 146 miles (235km) east of Aberdeen, currently has all 89 personnel safely accounted for, despite the turbulent conditions in the North Sea.

In response to the incident, the HM Coastguard has dispatched two helicopters to provide assistance to the platform, which is battling strong waves and challenging conditions.

For the peace of mind of concerned relatives, a dedicated response number has been established and can be reached at 01224 455199.

The incident involving the semi-sub drilling platform Stena Spey occurred around 06:45, as reported by Stena Drilling. In their official statement, the company expressed that all support services are being meticulously coordinated through the shore-based incident response team. They emphasized that every conceivable effort is being exerted to minimize risks to the personnel on-site and to effectively resolve the situation. Photo by Alf van Beem, Wikimedia commons.
