New figures estimate that adding 36 more members to the Welsh Parliament could cost an extra £17.8 million annually, according to documents from Labour ministers.
The additional costs could reach £19.5 million by 2030, on top of the Senedd's existing £67 million budget. Advocates argue that more politicians are needed because the Senedd has acquired greater powers since its inception. However, the Welsh Conservatives argue that Wales requires "more doctors, dentists, nurses, and teachers, not more politicians."
