British Queen celebrates

The UK government is closely monitoring the situation in Sudan following a week of violent conflict that has left hundreds dead. On Saturday, British Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak led a meeting of the government’s emergency response committee, attended by defense minister Ben Wallace and others, to discuss the situation.

Amid reports of gunfire and airstrikes continuing in Khartoum, the Sudanese army has said it will assist with the evacuation of foreign nationals. The UK is among the countries whose diplomats and citizens will be evacuated, along with the US, France, and China. The British government has stated that it is working to support UK nationals and diplomatic staff in Khartoum, and is preparing for various contingencies in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and Foreign Office.

In light of the ongoing conflict, the Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Sudan, warning that any decision to move must be taken at individual risk, even in the event of a ceasefire.
