British Queen celebrates

Sunderland Football Club has finalized the acquisition of Katie Kitching, a former midfielder for London City Lionesses, on a one-year contract. The Lady Black Cats shared the news of the

transfer through an official announcement on their club website, marking a significant addition to their squad.

Kitching joins Sunderland as a free agent after parting ways with her previous club, London City Lionesses, just last week. It has been confirmed that she will be fully dedicated to training with her new team on a full-time basis, emphasizing her commitment to contribute to Sunderland's success.

During her 18-month tenure with London City Lionesses, the midfielder made a notable impact, featuring in 17 appearances for The Pride in the Barclays Women's Championship. Notably, Kitching showcased her skills against Sunderland in February, playing a crucial role in her former team's 3-1 victory at Princes Park.

As Kitching is still in the early stages of her career, her time at London City Lionesses served as her inaugural professional experience, following a period of combining football with her studies in the United States. With her move to Sunderland, she hopes to further develop her abilities and make significant strides in her football journey.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining Sunderland, Kitching stated, "I'm thrilled to embark on this new chapter. The club's exceptional facilities and the supportive environment make me eager to begin this exciting venture."

Kitching's arrival marks the second signing for Sunderland during the summer transfer window. The club had previously welcomed the highly-regarded forward, Mary McAteer, earlier this week, demonstrating their determination to strengthen the team and build a competitive roster.
