British Queen celebrates

In a recent announcement, Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, renowned author Ian McEwan, and esteemed immunologist and geneticist John Bell have been honored as Companions

of Honour by King Charles in his inaugural birthday honours list. The Companion of Honour title is limited to just 65 individuals at any given time, making it a highly prestigious recognition.

Anna Wintour, who has held the position of editor at Vogue U.S. since 1988, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry. Alongside her impactful role, Wintour is also recognized as a dedicated philanthropist. Her efforts have raised an impressive sum of over $300 million for the U.S. Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.

Ian McEwan, acknowledged for his outstanding contributions to literature, has penned numerous critically acclaimed novels such as "Amsterdam," "Atonement," and "Enduring Love." His literary works have garnered widespread acclaim and secured him a place among the esteemed Companions of Honour.

John Bell, as the Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford, has spent three decades spearheading the establishment of research capabilities in the field of vaccines. His instrumental role at Oxford University paved the way for the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, playing a crucial part in the fight against the global pandemic.

These prestigious honors are part of a larger celebration, with over 1,000 individuals recognized in the king's birthday honours list for their significant contributions to various sectors including education, healthcare, philanthropy, and more.

King Charles, who ascended to the throne in May, will mark his official birthday with the traditional "Trooping of the Colour" military parade, set to take place on Saturday.
